PE tanks are closed enclosures designed for fluid storage at a pressure larger than 1 to 10 bar. The pressure is developed by internal pressure of fluids or external pressure due to direct or indirect heating of the tank.

Pressure difference in PE tanks is very dangerous and may lead to explosion and destruction. Consequently, PE tanks are designed and operated under legal supervision of engineering organizations. Maximum pressure and temperature are the key factors in the design of PE tanks.

Applications of PE tanks

PE tanks are used in industry as compressed air, water and gas storage tanks, pressurized enclosure, shuttle and submarine air storage tanks, pneumatic tanks, pressurized hydraulic tanks and storage of liquid gases such as ammonia, chlorine, propane, butane, LPG and so on.

Non-industrial applications of PE tanks include oxygen storage tanks and domestic hot water storage tanks and so on. PE tanks are mostly sued in oil, gas and petrochemical industries..
